DOCTOR; Most gynecologists working with infertility will order only a semen analysis.If this test for semen quantity,sperm count and health,and semen health is normal,the husband usually needs no further testing.It is wise,therefore,that this be one of the first tests ordered for any infertile couple.

Sperm agglutination.This test to make sure the female is not allergic to her husband's sperm or that a man is not allergic to his own sperm can be helpful if infertility persists.This is felt to be a relatively rare fertility problem but it can be significant.

This test may be done either initially or later depending on medical indications.It is usually done if a man's sperm are always missing from the woman's cervical mucus even after intercourse,if the sperm all seem to be sticking together in a sperm specimen when viewed under a microscope,or when no other cause for infertility can be found.
